Reverse osmosis (RO) is a membrane process designed primarily for the removal of TDS (total dissolved solid). RO also removes TOC (total organic carbon) and colloidal materials. RO systems can replace the conventional ion exchange resin beds with benefits of continuous operation and reduce regeneration chemicals consumption. Where single-pass RO cannot achieve an acceptable water quality, double-pass RO can be used.
